JMS Happy Hour - Friday 28/08/09

You may have noticed posters up around the office promoting JMS happy hour... This week we have The Arctic Monkeys and Jamie Oliver coming in to entertain and feed us. This is the best line up since the Beatles and Margaret Fulton were here back in 1964. The designers are pumped. Get prepared for the best Friday since Good Friday. The fun begins at 4:30. Don’t miss out, JMS happy hour only happens once a week.

What an exciting JMS Happy Hour we have organised for you this afternoon! It’s going to be so much fun. Champagne on arrival with beer, wine and cocktail specials all night long. Live music from Gary Newman and Bryan Ferry. Nibbles prepared by Gordon Ramsay in our very own JMS Café.

JMS Happy Hour kicks off at 4:30 this afternoon. Beer and wine specials available in the hour. There will be Jim Beam promo girls walking around and a special appearance from Poh from Masterchef*. It’s going to be incredible!

This is our very cool work experience guy, zack. He has saved Mary's ass with writing top notch stories! Woot! AND he is a chef as well! Double Woot!

Mark provides us with silver service. He pushes the trolley around the office offering chips, dips cheese and crackers. What a lad!

Just another Manic Monday today - well not so manic, but still JMS continues to be a very busy place to work at.

Sometimes I go outside to stretch my legs. I kick an imaginary football, and today I accidentally kicked it over the fence. It doesn't matter though, that's the good thing about imaginary football.

Belinda bought a car on the weekend. A second-hand dark blue Subaru wagon. We can't wait to see it and for her to take us for a spin around the area.

I wanted to post a picture of an imaginary football, but obviously this is impossible. Oh well.

Yet another deadline

Mark is busy finishing off the mag and has been a bit stressed but since JMS happy hour is coming right up (in 1 hour) life is a little bit better. Also the press date has been postponed so that alleivates the pressure slightly.

Belinda has gone home sick. She came to work this morning, popped some nurofen, didn't feel any better and lied on the design room floor for the next hour. Poor thing. Nathan has since picked her up and hopefully she will be better in time for the weekend as she was sick last Friday also.

We have a work experience guy come in today and none of us had any idea he was going to rock up. His name is zac and has helped mary out a lot with the editorial side of things.

Michelle's gums are much better especially since she ate all those donuts caroline so kindly sent us the other day. That was the sweetest thing and was so unexpected. Its like our fairy god mother was thinking of us from far far away in Bled!

Other news is that one of our staff has gone. We are a little bit shocked but okay, she is okay too, so not to worry, a whole world of opportunities out there for her.

Ive decided to post a pic of felt donuts as they look very pretty and creative :) That is all ... Thank god its friday!

For all those concerned, Caroline's fish Jess seems to be much perkier. We have taken her out of isolation and she is now swimming in the main fish bowl. MH.

In five hours and thirty minutes JMS will be short one designer. How will they cope with this loss? Replaced by two sick goldfish and a stereo my absence may go unnoticed, or it could end in tears. Who will re-stock the green tea or call for the recycling bin to be emptied?

Upon my return will I arrive to changed locks and my belongings packed into cardboard boxes? Rejected, replaced, forgotten. Or will there be a big band and fanfare waiting to greet me at the airport? Only time will tell.

I will miss my favourites at JMS (you know who you are) but will be back in 7 weeks, hopefully with a story or two to tell and maybe even a tan.

Our Inaugural Blog

Caroline has the most interesting workspace because she has posters and pretty pictures all over her wall. She always says it looks like her brain has exploded. I have had two teas so far today and I will have a coffee in 15 minutes. I will follow that up with some chewing gum to get that funny after instant coffee taste from my mouth. Belinda is wearing a pretty green cardigan today. She also has a mustard one. I always wonder what sort of mustard she likes..? Michelle does a really good Asian accent but she is Asian so she kind of has an advantage. Caroline, Michelle and I play a game called 'Highs and Lows'. You have to say the best thing that happened to you and the worst thing that happened to you during the day. We will play it at about 5pm, and we will also have a 'High and Low' from the whole week. Belinda sometimes likes to trick the paper shredder by feeding it in and then taking it out. I think the paper shredder gets annoyed with her doing that, but he's too polite to say anything. MH. XO
